Many of you know that I applied, took the test, and received the job to be a census worker on Tybee Island. Perfect job for a stay-home mom who loves to walk around her island. The one catch was the 5 day/40 hour training I was required to attend starting April 12th. Luckily, Dave's mom said she could come and watch Mathieu for the week. Plane tickets were bought ... plans were set ... and then Good Friday the phone rings. It's the census office, telling me that the training was moved up a week and would I be available in 4 days? Uh ... no. So I lost my job before I even started. Dave's parents still came, and they had a lot of fun with Mathieu. Many more cool pictures found on the slideshow to the right.

Kiddie Pool Time

We set up the kiddie pool in the backyard and Mathieu had a ball! He had so much fun splashing, throwing things out of the pool, retrieving balls, pine cones, etc. and climbing back into the pool. You will notice that the water starts out clear but gradually turns cloudier. That's just from all the sand and dirt Mathieu dragged in.

This series of photos is all from the same 20 seconds. It shows how positively charged this pool- time experience was for Mathieu.

Life at the Beach

Dave and I have always enjoyed living on Tybee, but we enjoy it in such different ways now that we have Mathieu in our lives. The beach is such a wonderful place to have a baby. Mathieu can explore, really explore his environment, both through roaming and through all the little treasure he finds. Although Mathieu will play with sand toys, he's far more interested in the natural pieces. In the following series of pictures, all taken today, you'll see Mathieu playing in the water, finding driftwood, exploring the properties of a pine cone, and his biggest accomplishment thus far ....walking!
