We love berries!

Mathieu asks all sorts of questions from, "Mommy, semi-truck have a motor?" to, "Mommy, where do blueberries come from?". A few weeks ago, Dave showed Mathieu our car engine, which was the precursor to all questions relating to motors and their relationship with semi-trucks, helicopters, tractors, and lawn mowers. This weekend, we were able to give Mathieu an experiential, definitive answer to his blueberry question. We traveled to northern South Carolina to visit our wonderful friends, Heidi, Jeremy, and their little boy, Jacob. While there, we harvested blueberries, blackberries, boysenberries, raspberries, and peaches! Besides that, Mathieu rode a horse, played in our friend's creek, and saw first hand where chicken eggs come from. However, with true two year-old style, Mathieu says, "Run around with Jacob," when asked by Grandma what he did this weekend.

Kayak Trip

We had an amazing time kayaking with Mathieu today. He was into it from the beginning, which included him carrying a paddle from our house to the dock.

We paddled down our creek to the very south end of Tybee. It was low tide, and we found an impressive landscape of tidal pools in sandy holes filled with sun-warmed water. Paradise.

Living the island dream

Charleston, South Carolina

We took a lovely trip to Charleston with Grandma and Grandpa.

U.S.S. Yorktown aircraft carrier

Lots of fun at the Children's Museum

The grocery store was so realistic that Mathieu had a hard time understanding it was only pretend. He made his parents proud by filling his cart with fruits and vegetables!

Sapelo Island with Grandma and Grandpa

Sapelo Island was a huge hit for Mathieu. It was like the meeting of peanut butter with jelly when Mathieu combined a ferry boat trip with a school bus ride. The first bus even broke down, making the excursion even more exciting when we all had to climb onto a new bus!
