Mathieu's First Trip to Chicago

Mathieu Jumping

We been putting Mathieu in the bumper jumper since June when he was at 4 months old. He always seemed very uneasy about being suspended above the ground by his crotch. At times he would happily suck on a toy, but he never got into the jumping part of it. But now! Finally, he has become at one with the bumper jumper. See the quick 10 sec video of Mathieu jumping. We are hopeful that he really gets into this. It would be great for Mom and Dad to eat dinner and have Mathieu happily jumping away on his own for 10 minutes.

Who's That Baby?

Check out the family resemblance. This photo was taken 34 years ago. Wasn't Dave such a cute baby? He's almost as cute as Mathieu!

Water Training

We don't have much of a story for these pictures, but Mathieu just looked so cute that we had to post them. We bought Mathieu an infant life jacket so we can now officially go paddling. It came in the mail today, and we decided to have Mathieu try it on. The other picture is of Mathieu and Dave in the kiddy pool. After Dave is finished with work, he'll often take Mathieu in the water. I'm there, too, soaking my feet.

Latest Exploits

Every day Mathieu seems to polish a motor skill. When he first became interested in holding objects, he would bat at them, sometimes grabbing and sometimes missing. Then he could grab a toy with accuracy, but only if it was in front of him. Now Mathieu is an expert at the grab/hold/shake/throw/ toy game, and he's begun inching towards his goal!Here is a picture of Mathieu grabbing Daddy's leg hair.Mathieu has also begun to eat solids. We started him out on avocado, proceeded to sweet potatoes, (which he inhaled!), moved to peas and bananas, and just last night he had his first taste of rice cereal. We've been making all our own baby food using the trusty blender.
