Mathieu has been having his share of water play this summer. His enjoys the beach, and has created some amusing rituals with which he entertains himself. For example, Mathieu walks into the water, hands us his bucket so we can fill it, and then he carries it to some hole in the sand another kid has made earlier. He will go back and forth continually following this pattern. I feel he is very adept at pouring water out of a bucket for his age. He does it all the time and takes great care in aiming.

Mathieu's cousins, Jeanne-Marie and David, visited us for a week. Matheiu LOVED their company. He's even directing Jeanne-Marie on which hole she should pour her water into.

Below is a picture of us seining in the creek. We caught many different fish and crabs. Although Mathieu could not help drag the 20 foot seine net, he was a master at spotting the sea life we caught and pointing at it for us to pick up.

Another fun water activity is splashing in our backyard kiddie pool. Even when it is 102 heat index here on Tybee (all this week), laying in the kiddie pool with Mathieu feels pretty nice... and we added a feature -- a slide!

A couple of weeks ago, we traveled to Chicago to visit my family. The grandparents had a Slip-N-Slide ready for Mathieu. He preferred playing with the hose.

After a morning, afternoon, or evening outside, Mathieu is sweaty and dirty. No problem. We just hose him off 2 or 3 times a day. Then he hoses our feet, his shoes, the rocks ... he loves playing with water!
